INFORMATION ABOUT TORREVIEJA ATTRACTIONS
TORREVIEJA CITY CENTRE
The undoubted highlight of Torrevieja city centre itself is the coastal esplanade ...
a walkway which runs for some 3km along side the Torrevieja beaches, marina, funfair, market stalls, restaurants, bars and ice cream parlours. The esplanade has recently been improved on the marina side, and after the funfair and market stalls there is a walkway (the passeo dique de Levante - a breakwater or dyke) right out to the marina entrance ... this costal esplanade is the main attraction (in Torrevieja city itself) ... almost everything (of worth to the average tourist) is cram packed into this long pedestrian walkway.
Beach information Torrevieja
Torrevieja includes 14km of coastline and from North to South the beaches of Torrevieja are ...
LA MATA BEACH - the longest by far of Torrevieja's beaches (approx 2km).
CABO CERVERA BEACH - the Torre del Moro is situated just off this beach.
LOS LOCOS BEACH - the "madmen" beach at the northern side of the actual city of Torrevieja.
EL CURA BEACH - the main central beach of Torrevieja city.
LOS NAUFRAGOS BEACH - the "shipwreck beach"
EL ACEQUION BEACH - a small beach - just after the Torrevieja marina.
BAHIA LA VELETA BEACH - small beach at the urbanisation La Veleta southern extreme of Torrevieja.
FERRIS BEACH COVE - on the south most extreme - just before Punta Prima.
Parks Information Torrevieja
The Laguna de La Mata is classed as Torrevieja's protected natural park : a salt lake with a nice walkway and picnic areas on the south side - exactly why this is called a nature reserve though, is quite beyond the imagination - if there is ever any sign of bird or animal life out there when (and if) you visit ... please send in a photo. Exactly what (apart from the shrubs & trees) is being "protected" around this laguna is a mystery to me, just like most of the other protected natural parks in the Costa Blanca.

Looking on Google Earth there is a footpath all the way round the Laguna de La Mata (although we have never tried this) ... but on the south side of the Laguna there is definitely a nice wooden walkway running the whole length of the Laguna, also there is a small tourist info office at the entrance to Torrevieja's Laguna de la Mata.
Beside the Laguna de la Mata (only 1.5km separates the two) is a larger (twice the size) "pinky-purple coloured" lagoon - which supplies Torrevieja's working salt production factory, these two laguna's (and the land around them) take up almost half of the whole of Torrevieja's territorial land mass.
Torrevieja PARK OF NATIONS (Jardin de las Nationes) Information ...
This park in Torrevieja is well worth a visit (especially if you have kids) ... well kept and visually interesting ... the kids will love the peacocks, ducks, geese, hens & cockerels which roam freely around the park and the lizards which are in glass tanks. In the centre of the park is a large lake (on which boats can be hired at certain times), a footpath runs all the way around the lake, and the park also has a children's play area and refreshment kiosk.
The Park of Nations in Torrevieja ... is one of the highlights of this city ... without doubt.
PARK ANTONIO SORIA - a large park where REM, Depech Mode & Shakira have held concerts.
PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUTION - around which the Town Hall and the Church of the Immaculate Conception are situated.
PARQUE DEL MOLINO DEL AGUA (The Watermill Park) [edit - after visit]
PLAZA DE LA ESTACION (The old Train Station in Torrevieja) ... once a working train line between Torrevieja and Albatera the train tracks are now used as a "Green Route".
This is where the TORREVIEJA SALT INDUSTRY MUSEUM and RICARDO LAFUENTE MUSEUM DE LE HABENERA are now located .. see photos of both below.
Marina Torrevieja information ...
TORREVIEJA MARINA INTERNACIONAL.
Paperwork obtained from the Torrevieja Marina shows 896 berths or moorings in this marina (2009) - if correct this means that the Torrevieja Marina exceeds the number of moorings of the capital city Alicante marina - which only has around 700 mooring.
Which makes Torrevieja marina the largest marina on the Costa Blanca.
There are boat trips from Torrevieja to the Island of Tabarca ...
a great day out Tabarca Island lies about 35km from Torrevieja marina.
